Genetic factors, infections, head injuries and metabolic abnormalities are only some of the potential triggers of epilepsy in animals. This, in turn, highlights the importance of an individual approach to diagnosing and treating this condition, taking into account the specific needs of each patient.
The choice of the appropriate therapy method depends on the type of epilepsy. In the case of idiopathic epilepsy, anti-epileptic drugs are used and administered continuously. Seizures of metabolic and toxic origin usually resolve after appropriate treatment of the general disease or after the effect of the chemical substance with which the animal had contact has ceased. Structural epilepsy is treated symptomatically with anti-epileptic drugs while simultaneously treating the brain diseases that cause it.
Does epilepsy in a dog or cat hurt?

Can epilepsy in a dog or cat be caused by stress?
