Skin biopsy
Excisional biopsy together with histopathological assessment of the collected sample is one of the most valuable diagnostic tools available in veterinary dermatology. In clinical practice, histopathological examination of the skin is often the decisive test, allowing a final diagnosis to be made and appropriate therapy to be introduced. For histopathological examination to be reliable, knowledge of proper skin preparation for biopsy and correct sample collection is essential.
